2 Would-be Passenger's Miss Their Flight
... But save their lives.
Hopefully everyone is aware of that plane that crashed somewhere into a house in Buffalo, New York. Pretty much everyone inside died, including one person from inside the house.
There were two passengers, however, that missed the flight, and are in shock and thinking, "It could have been me." One of them credits bad weather, the other credits a long line.
David Becony, one of the would-be passengers, missed his flight when his previous one was delayed for bad weather. He camped out in the airport on a seat, since he couldn't get a hotel room nor get on a another flight. When he heard of the plain crash, he called his wife, and they both basically broke down.
The other would-be passenger, Susan Reinhardt, was on a 4:30 flight to Buffalo, one that was being delayed for four hours. She thought about getting on the 7:00 one (the one that crashed), but upon seeing the long line she needed to wait in to get a standby ticket, she decided against it. When she heard about the crash after getting off of her original flight, she was thankful but shaken. But here's something else:
"'The heart-wrenching piece for me was I was at the gate talking to this gate agent and a young woman came up and she wanted to know: Should she stay on the 7 o'clock flight because of all the delays? Did the gate agent think the 4:30 was going to get out before the 7?
'He said, 'No, you will still get in before the 4:30,' and she said, 'OK, I'm going to stay on the 7 o'clock, I'm calling my boyfriend.' And she did.'"
Whew... Well, that goes to show that if it's not your time to go, it's not your time to go. I would thank Allah a million times over, had that been me. ;A;
