Should you upgrade to the Nintendo DSi?

This thing's been on sale in Japan for awhile now with great results, and will be coming over to America soon. The thing is-- should you go and upgrade?

The DSi is a tad bit slimmer-- but the change isn't as noticeable as the DS to DS Lite change.
The DSi's screen is a quarter of an inch bigger.
The Gameboy Advance slot is not on the DSi.
The DSi will cost $40 more than the DS Lite.

"What the DSi does introduce is an SD card slot, two 0.3 megapixel cameras, and a brand new menu system. The new upgradeable firmware will be exclusive to the DSi and offers a DSi Shop online store, photo editor, music player (sorry MP3 fans, it only supports AAC files), audio recorder, and PictoChat. The DSi Shop is basically the portable equivalent of WiiWare, the online store found on the Nintendo Wii. From the DSi Shop you'll be able to download applications and games directly to the device's internal 256 MB of storage or an SD card. The DSi also features speedier hardware than its predecessors--its main processor doubles the speed of the DS Lite's and has four times the RAM, as well. Whether or not this will make a drastic change in performance remains to be seen. What we do know is that the DSi's battery life won't last as long as the DS Lite's."

The people over at CNet are saying no, it's not worth upgrading if you're already an owner of a Lite. On the other hand, if you've been wanting a DS for a long time now, the DSi is a great start. Oh. And if you're an owner of a "fat" DS and don't mind losing the Gameboy Advance slot-- go ahead and get it too. The features may seem great and all, but it seems that if you've already got some sort of media player, it doesn't really matter.
Whew. My sister owns a Lite (which I conveniently get to play with whenever I want), and I've been wondering this myself for awhile. o3o

Free iPhones in Japan

Starting Friday, Softbank Mobile, the carrier of Apple's smartphone in Japan, will give anyone a free 8GB iPhone 3G for a two year contract. Even if customers wanted the 16 GB model, it'll be available for $118, reduced from $350. (The service still costs pretty much, but yeah.)

Japan's cell phone market is pretty tough, and the reason for this is probably because they've been having these type of things on the market for a long time now. iPhone's must not be that big of a deal to them...

"Toto, a marketing consultant based in Tokyo, had predicted that Apple might have trouble getting traction in Japan’s highly competitive cell phone market. In June, he posted 10 reasons why Japan will hate the iPhone (or maybe not). To get a feel for how the iPhone is perceived in Japan, we re-post them below the fold:

1. No One-Seg digital TV tuner
2. No Felica (e-wallet) function
3. Weak camera
4. Only one panel color available
5. Display of cute emoticons, emoji, is difficult
6. Japanese cell phone contracts are long-term (2 years standard, almost no pre-paid) and expensive to terminate
6. A lot of Japanese already own an iPod Touch (launched in October 2007)
7. Japanese women with long fingernails will not buy it (and there are a lot of them)
8. High-school kids use cell phones mainly for emails using one thumb, a dialpad and a jog dial (ideal for Japanese character input)
9. Softbank will probably charge a lot of Yen for the handset itself, accessories, data plans etc.
10. Japan is the toughest cell phone market in the world
(high level of technical sophistication, critical customers, high innovation rate etc. )"

Phewwww. o3o
I'm pretty sure they have plenty of more high-tech stuff than we have here. I NEED TO GO TO JAPANNNN~

On a totally different note, Japanese emoji's are awesome.

Yes. I noticed my last post was about free stuff too. .___.

Everything in THIS store is free

A store opens in Lower Manhattan, a store that is selling everything for free. That's right.

Everything basically has an "I'm Free" tag on it, and people are welcome to take whatever they want. Most of the things are donated, and some people taking even donate things themselves on the spot. The store will be open for another week/two weeks (can't remember), but yeah. How awesome. I'd love to go over and look around myself, but you know, 'not livin' in Manhattan. Aaaahh....
I like that shirt that had that leaf from the Canadian flag and said "The Eh Team." OHMAN. :'DD

Bring your comics everywherrre~

It was really just a matter of time before someone made a portable comic reader, eh?
Well, iVerse Media released a comicbook-reading app for the iPhone and the Android. Although the idea sounds a bit ridiculous, they managed to crop the book into panel-sized chunk. On both the iPhone and Android, you move your finger over the screen to go to the next panel. It's surprising clean and clear because of that, so there would be no need to squint.
There are already quite a few comic books already out "from 99 cent "Star Trek" comics to free comics starring Flash Gordon and stories from Boom Studios, a comic book publisher in Los Angeles. Frustratingly, though, each comic you download installs as a separate app."

You can see a demo of the iVerse here.

Okay. OKAY.
Now.
I think this is reallyreallyreally cool. I'd love to have this sort of thing, of course, if I had an iPhone or Android in the first place. But maybe, maybe more "portable comic readers" will come out from this. 'Never knoowww~

Octopus pulls a plug--

--And floods an aquarium.

Ahaha... Santa Monica Pier Aquarium's octopus pulled the plug to its aquarium one dayyy, and pretty much flooded the place. They lost quite a few gallons of water, and their floor is soaked (and right after they replaced it to!). Were any of the other animals affected?
Hmm, makes me wonder how strong those guys are, with their suction cups on their TENTACLESSS...

Bungie Jumping Scare

OH MAN.
So basically, a bungee jumper's cord snaps about 25 feet above a river and he falls into the water. He's taken to the ER, and get's all better and says that he's still going to bungee jump.
What a guyyy.
I've always wanted to bungee jump, and I'm sure pretty much everyone's wished to, too, but alas, I am a chicken. Instances like this make me feel even more like one too, even though the reporter said that that was the first accident at that bungee jumping spot ever. :'DD

Society's Disease

Added a new label for poems and the like, because I want more variety of blog posts. ((:

Poem TOTALLY not by me. Lena Winfrey Sedar wrote this.

Society's Disease
Racism, the great crime of humanity.
Why does one's race always claim superiority?
We are all the same; there is no inferiority.
When we look at each other we see a resembling face.
We all have a body and a soul of grace.
As individuals, we do have differences.
Some of us may take risks and chances.
Others of us may be shy and give few glances.
We should find common ground and make peace.
The hatred and killing should desist and cease.
We are all the children of Adam and in life have a lease.
We should lend a helping hand to each other.
We should remember that Eve is our common mother.
We should love our human sisters and brothers.

Aaah, I think that was a beautiful poem. It rhymes and flows so welllll~ ;A;
Totally random but I've been thinking of making a personal blog for myself to put up my own works ahahaha
