Tech sells on Black Friday
This Black Friday (or last Friday), the Nintendo Wii was the number one best-selling item.
"According to Pricegrabber.com and eBay, the Nintendo Wii was the most sought-after item: eBay moved 3,171 units at an average price of $349 and the Wii Fit game pushed 1,059 units at $140 a pop."
It's been released for about two years now, and has just recently surpassed the mark of 7 million consoles sold. Apple was also a pretty good seller, especially on Amazon.
"Amazon.com names the iPOD as the number one selling item, and 10 out of the 25 most popular sellers were Apple products. The newest iteration of the MacBook was number four on Amazon -- the laptop carries a starting pricetag of $1,299."
It appear that even through these tough times, electronics seem to be doing a good job overall. Here is a list of Pricegrabber.com's top 10 products this year:
"• Nintendo Wii console
• Ugg Australia "classic short" boot
• Sony BDP-S350 1080p Blu-ray disc player
• Samsung LN52A650 52" LCD TV
• Nintendo Wii Fit
• Panasonic TH-42PX80U 42" plasma TV
• Sennheiser HD 555 headphones
• Canon EOS Rebel XSi Black SLR digital camera
• Acer Aspire One AOA110-1295 notebook PC
• Canon PowerShot A590 IS black digital camera"
According to the National Retail Federation, Black Friday sales this year went better than they did last year (mmm... really?) . "Shoppers dropped $41 billion during the four-day weekend, with the average shopper spending $372.57, up 7.2 percent from last year."
Maybe slightly off-topic, but I remember around this time last year my friend sold her Wii and the games for a higher price than she bought it (people were desperate?). She planned to buy a new one when the hype and prices died down, and she did. Heheh, pretty smart--she got some extra bucks for doing it. ;D
