IBM's Symphony

IBM released Lotus Symphony 1, a free productivity suite, early June after months of beta testing. It is based off of an older version of OpenOffice, but has a slicker interface, uncluttered menus, and is an overall more attractive program then OpenOffice. On top of being based off of OpenOffice, Lotus Symphony acts a lot like Microsoft Office, which is great if your wallet can't take the damage from buying Microsoft Office.
Lotus Sympony consists of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications. It uses Open Document Format as a standard extension. Symphony runs all those applications on a single window using tabs, making the suite more memory efficient and simpler.
Symphony is a stable, quick program that opens up without using too much memory. It also has no problem opening up many documents, presentations, or spreadsheets made in OpenOffice and Microsoft Office.

From what I see, Lotus Symphony is an improved OpenOffice (while still keeping the free!), made to work almost like Microsoft Office. It's easy to use, and easy to adapt to. :)
